A warm welcome to the 2013/2014 academic year. It has been particularly exciting to return to school this term with the news that our GCSE Results are the best in the school’s history and that following a rigorous examination of all aspects of our provision, our school was awarded ‘Grade 2: Good for ‘Overall Effectiveness’ having also secured this grade in each of the four key judgements. It should be noted this was under the new significantly more challenging Ofsted framework introduced in September 2012.

We have had a fantastic first week back at school with beautiful weather, newly painted corridors/signage and smartly dressed students, helping to create a really positive atmosphere around the school.

The summer’s exam results were our best ever at GCSE level with 67% of our Year 11 students gaining 5 or more Avada.zip – C grades, 53.3% gaining 5 or more Avada.zip – C grades including English and Maths. English and Maths results both improved by a stunning 9%! 99.4% of our students left school with 5+A*-G grades.

This year we are looking to improve still further. In my first assemblies I will be stressing the need for hard work and have used the NASA motto for their aeronautics program of your ‘attitude determines your altitude’ to emphasise what qualities are needed for success!

I hope we will all work together to ensure Harrow Way students aspire to be the best they can be, aim to reach the highest standards they can reach and achieve the success they richly deserve.

Our new year 7’s looked very smart in assembly on Wednesday morning. Always a nervous day for them, rest assured, they will be fine and we will do all we can to make sure they are as successful as all our students. I hope parents have had a chance to look at our results on the school website, really inspirational reading; so much success.

More information will posted by me throughout the year.
